In the heart of old Delhi, Chandni Chowk is the most famous place known not only for its shopping and traditional Indian things but also for its authentic and delicious food. There are more then 100’s of the shop including small joints to big store which offer different and delicious varieties of food famous in its way. So, get ready for a street walking tour while enjoying these hidden gems.
Street food can’t complete without chaat, and one of the best places to have this is Natraj in Chandni Chowk. A small shop on the main road of Chandni chowk near the Central bank and opposite of Paanthe wali Gali offers one of the best Bhalla and Tikki in Delhi. It’s crowded almost every time, but the struggle is worth the wait. That soft Bhalla or crispy Tikki with tangy chutney and sweet curd make it feels like heaven.
2. Kake di Hatti
This is one of the best places for having authentic north Indian cuisines. It is located at Church Mission Road, Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk. They offer various verities to dal, sabzi, and paratha but they are known for their massive naan. Do try this place for pocket friendly Dhaba style Indian food.
3. Giani’s di Hatti
Craving for sweets? Where else to go when in Chandi Chowk, Giani’s of course “ iske liye to naam hi kafi h.” The most famous giani’s is known for its Rabri Faluda and different varieties of shakes and halwa (only in winters). Located just next to kake di Hatti Fatehpuri, Church Mission Road, Chandni Chowk, you can easily find this place. They also serve chole bhature and different flavors of Ice cream.
4. Old Famous Jalebi Wala
As the name says, this place is very old and famous for its big size jalebi. Their specialty is preparing everything in pure desi ghee. Their big size crunchy jalebi with rabri on top just melts in your mouth. They also have Samosa which is again made in pure desi ghee. You can find them at Dariba Kalan, Chandni Chowk.
5. Gali Paranthe wali
It is very famous Narrow Street in Chandni chowk which has series of shops offering various verities of Paranthe. You can find both usual and unusual combination to try, so don’t just stop on having only one. This place is easy to be found you just need to remember the name and people will guide you to it.
6. Daulat ki Chaat
Don’t go on the name it’s not a savory dish, in fact, it’s kind of a desert with sugary flavor. It is available only in winters. You can easily spot these small vendors selling Daulat ki chaat which is also known as Malai Makhan in many other cities in India. It’s sweet and quickly disappears into your mouth.
7. Chaina Ram Sindhi
Another old and famous shop in Chandni Chowk is chaina ram Sindhi confectioners. They have all type of Indian sweets and savories. It’s more of a halwai shop, but some dishes are worth a try. I love their Ghewar and sev bhurfi, and if you are a morning person do go there for your breakfast of poori sabzi, I’m sure you will love it. They are located at the corner of fathepuri Chandni chowk just next to the Fathepuri masjid.
